It’s election day here in the United States – Tuesday 6th November 2018 – and it’s already a big deal for everyone who lives in or has citizenship in this country. Yes, even those who claim not to care about politics and choose to be oblivious to what is happening around them will be affected by the results of this election (as they are by every election, but they don’t know that until they want to do something they can no longer do). I digress. Anyway…

The astrology and numerology for this day is pretty nuts! So let’s just dive into what you can look for on this very special day.

Numerologically speaking, this is a 1 universal day – a day of initiative action, new beginnings, and individuality. In a lot of ways, this is perfect for an election day because despite all the tribalism and hype, once you go into a voting booth, your vote is yours and yours alone, and your choices about who and what to vote for are yours and yours alone. In those moments, you get to decide whether or not you want to go along with a group or team agenda or honor your own inner truth, or rather, discern whether or not your personal inner truth aligns with a larger group agenda.

Sticking to your individuality may be a bit of a challenge today as the influence of the 22 universal month and 11 universal year energies will be strong today as well – there is a very present awareness of the impact of this election on the collective whole, and the importance of each individual vote will not go unnoticed, especially as there are likely to be many close elections across the country. Yet with the presence of these two master number energies, there will also be a temptation to give in to the lower vibrations of these numbers as well – a stubbornness and circling of the wagons for those who feel unsafe and fear change, and a toxic dependency (if not a toxic co-dependency) on an exclusive exchange of information that is only true between those who share an ideology. Those living into the mastery of these energies will be seeking to unite and expand, while those living into the lower vibrations will be seeking to divide and exclude.

With the numerology spoken for, let’s now look at the astrology of the day.

When the polls begin to open at 6:00a on the eastern coast of the United States, the voting day starts with a Grand Square configuration involving 3 fixed signs and 1 cardinal – Aquarius South Node (0.07°), Taurus Uranus Retrograde (0.01°), Leo North Node (0.07°), and a stellium of Venus Retrograde, Ceres, and the Moon in Libra (27-28°). Under the influence of the energy in this part of the day, people will be stubborn yet steady in their resolve to make sure either their votes are count in a very deliberate and determined way – in order to bring balance, fairness, and justice to their country in the ways they see fit. With the Libra Moon involved, there will be an emotion-driven response/reaction to the recent public reassessment of our personal and collective values – a feeling that balance needs to be restored, fairness needs to be the order of the day, and justice needs to be served. What are we prioritizing in our lives? Which life and lifestyle values are most important to us, and which comforts are we individually and collectively willing to invest or sacrifice in order to implement or restore those values?

There’s also a Grand Trine-Kite configuration involving the Leo North Node (0.07°), Scorpio Jupiter (29.55°), Aquarius South Node (0.07°), and Pisces Chiron Retrograde (28.38°). In this configuration, individuals a re present to the fact that their votes are acts of creative self-expression, that they are contributing to the transformation of our society, and that the outcome of this election will expand beyond their singular action to become part of a collective effort to either further deepen or finally heal this country’s long-held emotional and spiritual wounds. The results of this day are going to either restore a painful past or resolve it once and for all. This election will determine the direction of the United States of America for its foreseeable future.

Yet by the end of the voting window (when voting closes in Hawaii at 11:00p EST), all four points of the Grand Square will be in cardinal signs AND the Moon will have moved on (into Scorpio) toward its rendezvous with the Sun to form the next day’s New Moon. The South Node will now be in Capricorn, Uranus Retrograde is in Aries, the North Node is in Cancer – all at 29° in their respective signs, and Venus Retrograde and Ceres will still be in Libra at 27°. With all of the points in cardinal energy, there is a sense of urgency to get things moving in whichever way prevails. The energy becomes much more active and assertive if not aggressive by the end of the day, setting the tone for post-election day events to come.

Cardinal energy is initiative energy – it sets things in motion; it opens things up and encourages action, inspiring those newly-opened things to move forward. This is very compatible with the 1 universal day energy of the day’s numerology

The Grand Trine portion of the Kite configuration will also become an exclusively Water energy Grand Trine (with Cancer North Node at 29.), shifting the focus to the emotional-intuitive-spiritual energies we are feeling around us. Once the Nodes ingress, it becomes clear that this election is not only a battle between the people and the powers-that-be, but a battle for the heart and soul of the institutions which guide us.

There are five retrogrades at the present moment, and all of those retrogrades are prominently involved in today’s transits urging us to reflect upon both our 1-on-1 relationships of all kinds (Venus) our group associations and affiliations of all kinds (Uranus), and whether those connections are emotionally and spiritually hurting or healing us individually and in our collective Oneness (Chiron). As we take rapid and assertive steps forward, who are we intending and choosing to be in relationship with, and who are we intending and choosing to be aligned with in our communities and societies? Are we clear about the actions we are taking, and are our actions truly aligned with the values we say we want to embody and uphold?

Along with Taurus Juno Retrograde (a reassessment of our commitments to certain lifestyle values) and Pisces Neptune Retrograde (a reassessment of our collective vision and what an ideal community or society “should” be), these retrogrades are what make this election day especially interesting. Will this be a return or regression to the past, or an opportunity for a do-over – a chance to do things the way they “should” have been done the first time?

The shift in energies actually begins around 1:00p PST – at 12:58p PST to be exact. Taurus Uranus Retrograde makes exact square aspect to the Nodal Axis (Leo North Node and Aquarius South Node) – all three at 0.00°! That’s right – that very moment marks the point at which the day’s energies are about to shift as all three are about to enter different (cardinal) signs.

The Nodes always move in retrograde as their natural rotation (with an occasional direct motion), so we’ve been waiting for them to move into Cancer and Capricorn for a few weeks – they make this move at 1:08p EST/10:08a PST.

However, Uranus doesn’t always move in retrograde, and it’s re-entry into Aries at 1:59p EST/10:59a PST is something we’ve also been waiting for. There will be some things which occur as result of this regress that some of us might expect yet none of us may truly be prepared for.

And sadly, it won’t matter who wins where in Tuesday’s election. The fallout will likely be the same, regardless of the motivation behind it.

First of all, be ready for an aggressive rush of activity on the part of those who are still in office until the seats actually change hands in January, whichever way they change. Just because some of the current occupants may be on their way out doesn’t mean they aren’t going to do their allegiant diligence to their respective “tribes”. Expect agendas to be pushed and changes to be made as strategic tactics rather than for the benefit of the citizenry.

We’ll also need to be ready for a celebratory outbreak or a fierce backlash from rogues who believe they are reclaiming their country or saving their country with their acts of domestic terrorism. Don’t be surprised if things get worse for a while – many of these people are ramped up and amped up and itching to “do something” to defend themselves from their perceived threats. They will defend themselves from those threats while we all protect ourselves from the real and present threat(s) they’ve actually become. The question in this will be whether or not these individuals inspire a collective rebellion against a perceived or real larger threat to the collective well-being.

The hope can be found in the one other configuration presentat the time the polls open – a Yodconfiguration present at the time the polls open – Pisces Chiron Retrograde sextile Taurus Juno Retrograde, both quincunx theLibra Venus Retrograde + Ceres + Moon Stellium (and this configuration willstill be present when the polls close, without the Moon). This Yod brings themessage that long-held emotional and spiritual wounds are being re-opened, andin some cases, re-wounded. But the question-at-hand this time around is… howcommitted we are to healing those wounds once and for all through acknowledgmentof past (and present) imbalances, unfairness, and injustices, and the passionatedesire to right those wrongs past and present and to prevent them fromrecurring in the future? How committed are we to closing the divide and restoringour collective unity? Which values are we committed to aligning with andreuniting through? And do we really want balance, equality, fairness, andjustice to be restored? Can we agree on how those qualities get to show up in ourcollective practical reality?

And two more notable transits –

  • The first being the Scorpio 22 Sun square White Moon Selene (11-13°), indicating the challenge to honor our better angels. Notice I say nothing about the demons. That’s because the Sun’s square to Black Moon Lilith is now outside of the 3° orb I prefer to use for noting transits of significance. In this case, the stronger calling will come from the higher vibration energy to step into self-loving emotional and intuitive awareness and to forego the pursuit of institutional glory – to honor your own heart’s inner knowing and emotional truth first and foremost.
  • The second being Vesta approaching exact conjunction with Pluto in Capricorn (17-18°), acknowledging that one way or another, the structural integrity of the institutions of the United States is compromised and undergoing a massive transformation. For better or worse, there is going to be a major structural change in this country. Today, we decide what those changes will be.

This will be a historic election. Period.

The question is… which chapter of history will the United States write for itself today?

Please. If you are a United States citizen and you haven’t already, go cast your vote today. And don’t let anyone prevent or deny your right to vote and make your voice heard.
