grunge-frame-of-sunrays_MJtGuC5d - graphicstockThis September 2015 New Moon in Virgo kick-starts us into some pretty intense energy of self-reflection & healing. This lunar phase goes exact on Saturday 12th September at 11:41p PDT at 20.27° Virgo and is also a partial SOLAR ECLIPSE! (only seen by southern Africa & Antarctica).

With any solar eclipse, the Moon partially or fully blocks the light from the Sun, creating a shadow of darkness which adds intensity to the light that does come shining through around the shadow. Though some things may remain hidden, there is a strong possibility that some unexpected events may come to the surface, leaving a lasting impression. If the revelations are difficult, there is a chance these impression may burn and hurt us.

With that said, this New Moon in Virgo wants us to look at how we’ve been practically dealing with our day-to-day. Virgo wants us to bring our issues to the ground and find effective solutions to any problems we have in our life. Ruled by Chiron (contemporarily) and Mercury (traditionally), Virgo has the sheer intelligence and healing ability for finding the perfect and practical solution for anything. In this sense, we’ll need to truly analyze what we’ve been spending our days doing and if those things are directed to our highest and greatest good.

Virgo wants purity in purpose and a rational approach to life, and because the Moon is correlated with feelings/emotions, this New Moon calls us to try a rational view for size. The time has arrived to deal with the reality of how you’re actually trying to make your life work, rather than coming from an emotional viewpoint. In short, what is the “nitty-gritty” of what you’ve been up to on a daily basis and is that truly working for you and for others?

Questions to ask can be :

  • Are you physically healthy? Does your everyday routine support & encourage your physical health & wellness?
  • Are you healing physically, practically, &/or emotionally? Does your everyday routine support & encourage said healing?
  • Are you being productive in your daily activities? Are things working well or as well as they could be?
  • Are you actually addressing systematic or routine problems & challenges, or are you trying to avoid them?
  • Does your everyday lifestyle serve you well? Does your daily routine bring out the best in you…with others and with yourself?
  • What areas in your life can benefit from practicing modesty and reservation?

Additionally, at the time the New Moon (Sun-Moon conjunction) is most exact:

  • opposite Pisces Chiron Retrograde – the act of healing yourself & your life contributes to the healing of the world/Oneness. When you’re truly being self-responsible & addressing your challenges, you’re no longer able to play victim or martyr to others. You can actually focus on the practical act of self-healing first so you’re healthy & well enough to heal the world.
  • quincunx Aries Uranus Retrograde – the combativeness & competition of others in their efforts to assert their independence & individuality indirectly affect you & may actually help you recognize what may & may not be working for/serving you well in your everyday life. This may not only be what others are doing to you – it may also be what you are doing to yourself OR what you are accusing others of doing to you (deflecting self-responsibility, projecting it onto others).
  • Semi-sextile Leo Mars – impulsive actions taken to garner attention (your actions &/or others’ actions) may end up affecting your ability to attend to your everyday responsibilities. Make sure you’re not turning anyone else off by going to desperate measures to gain their acknowledgment, and if you’re being turned off, it may because someone is trying too hard to get you or others to notice them.

Note that this partial solar eclipse is a precursor for the TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE coming on 27th-28th September – the Aries Full Moon (which will be a doosy!) – this will be visible in its entirety in the Americas.

Sounds like it’s time to roll up our sleeves and starting DOING and IMPLEMENTING the things that we KNOW will make our life work in the greatest way possible. New Moons always gives us the opportunity to set some NEW energetic intentions out into the Universe. Keep in mind however, Virgo stresses the importance of making those intentions practical, efficient and useful in your everyday life. The days of hiding from what isn’t working in your life are becoming fewer and farther between. When the call of duty comes to elevate yourself in your life’s journey, will you be ready to do the work?
