The 2019 Pisces Full Moon reaches its maximum phase at 9:33p PDT on Friday, 13th/14th September 2019 (21.08°). This Full Moon is also known as the Harvest Moon – the last Full Moon phase before the Autumnal Equinox (coming up on 22nd/23rd September). This is time of giving and receiving, and gratitude.

The maximum phase of this Full Moon occurs on Friday the 13th for most of North America, which is kind of a big deal for those who are superstitious. Yet what many people don’t know is how Friday the 13th became a day of caution and fear.

I’ll explain.

Let’s start with the number 13, which is the number of transformation – the cycle of life in the sense of birth-to-death-to-rebirth. Think “phoenix rising from the ashes” or “caterpillar-to-butterfly”, and you’ll get the idea. Something must die in its original state in order to become something (or someone) completely new. It’s a powerful process, and one many people fear. But there’s more than that to this number.

In some religious circles, 13 is also considered a negative number. In Christianity specifically, there were 13 people seated at the Last Supper as told in the New Testament of the Christian Bible. As one of them, Judas, became a traitor to Jesus, many Christ-based religions associate the number 13 with treason, blasphemy, or danger. Jesus was crucified on a Friday…

…which brings us to days of the week. Friday is a big deal because it’s the day of the week associated with Venus in old English and Latin-based cultures. As Venus is one of the traditional female archetypes, Friday was associated strongly as a “day of the women” or a day of the “Sacred Feminine”…

… which now adds the Moon factor to this mix.

As Venus is one female archetype, the Moon is the other, and the Moon even more so because there are 13 moon cycles during the course of a year, and women have 13 menstrual cycles in the course of a year. The association between the Moon and women’s bodies is undeniable.

Combine this with the other afore-mentioned associations with 13, and the day of the week being Friday’s day, and you can understand how along the way through history – especially by men from religious patriarchies – it was decided that Friday the 13the is simply a day to be shamed and shunned…

… and yet, here we are now in September of 2019 with a Full Moon on Friday the 13th. And in this modern era, many people – men and women – are getting over their fears of the historical fear of the day. And they’re not just overcoming the fears – they’re outgrowing them.

This 2019 Pisces Full Moon is, therefore, one which can be associated with strong transformative and feminine power. This is also a powerful day because though in and west of North America where this will occur on Friday the 13th, it is a numerological 7 universal day of rest, reflection, and reassessment. Yet in the rest of the world, this 2019 Pisces Full Moon reaches its maximum phase on the 14th, it will be an 8 universal day of power and influence. Whichever day this may fall on for you, this has the potential to be a very transformative Full Moon phase.

Pisces is the 12the sign of the Zodiac, focused on service of a more spiritual or transcendental intent. This is not necessarily religious per se, but rather a sense of serving something bigger than oneself and possibly larger and more expansive than humanity – something that is inexplicable, yet felt. It is also associated with intuitive and/or psychic abilities and empathy… but also with playing victim or martyr in situations where one party gives too much of themselves without allowing themselves to receive. There has to be a balance of service – a balanced exchange of energy. Even in service, if we don’t allow ourselves to be served, we won’t have enough to give to others forever. At some point, we may run out of resource…

…which is what makes this pairing with of the Virgo 3 Sun and the Pisces Moon so powerful! There’s no escaping the fact that one must receive to give, and must give to receive. The popular theme of the last few weeks and months has been “letting go” of what is outdated, of what no longer serves us well, of what is hurtful or harmful to us. Now, under the “Harvest Moon” we get to begin reaping what we’ve sown over all this time. It’s time to receive what comes to us as result of our giving, and we get to give what came to us as result of our receiving.

Let’s keep in mind – this is NOT necessarily a physical, material, or financial exchange. And it is not a 1-for-1.

For some of us, this will be an emotional receipt in exchange for a financial one. For others, it may be the giving of a physical gift in exchange for intellectual understanding. There are a number of different ways these gifts and payments might be exchanged amongst us. The most important thing to remember is that you will receive for what you’ve given and you will give for what you’ve received.

The numerological 3 universal month energy supports this being a time of abundance, yet the riches available or coming to you may not be what you expect.

The key to making the most of this 2019 Pisces Full Moon is to be open to receiving whatever comes to you at this time with humility and gratitude, and to be open to giving whatever you can without attachment or expectation of return. You may also want to express gratitude for having the ability to give what you have freely.

Here are the specifics on the transits of this 2019 Pisces Full Moon:

The only interaction with the components of the Full Moon is from Capricorn Pluto Retrograde.

  • The Virgo 3 Sun (21.08°) makes trine aspect to Capricorn Pluto Retrograde (20.72°) at the time of max phase, which means the Pisces Moon makes sextile aspect to Pluto Retrograde (21.08°)simultaneously. This is a powerful set of transits as Capricorn Pluto represents the transformation of our societal structures and institutions. The Sun & Pluto Rx trine indicates that the intentions and methods behind the madness of our societal “systems” are coming to light. The Moon & Pluto Rx sextile indicates that we are being encouraged to feel our way through the systemic changes which are happening now. This is a time for us to trust our emotions and intuitions, to trust the feelings which come up as they are giving us the guidance we seek through our current healing and emergence processes. Yes, there may be guidance from the synchronicities around us. But there’s actually more coming to us through us right now. Our inner Truths have plenty to say right now. It’s best we pay attention now.

There are two planetary geometry configurations of note:

  • A Golden Rectangle configuration involving the Cancer North Node, Virgo Mars, Capricorn South Node (conjunct Saturn Retrograde), and Pisces Neptune (conjunct Black Moon Lilith). This is a strong indication of the desire to move toward an emotionally and physically healthier future, yet despite our efforts to make the necessary moves, we must still content with those who refuse to let go of “the good ol’ days” and are making up the rules as they go to prevent change from occurring. Of course, “the only constant in life is change”, so the change being resisted is eventually inevitable. Yet we would be wise not to underestimate the degree of delusion in those who are determined to prove themselves right about pulling the whole of humanity down a path of self-sabotage and global destruction. The good news out of this auspicious configuration is that it is now clear to everyone exactly what (and whom) needs to be phased out in order for change to occur. The challenge here is in having and exercising the patience to take the small steps which can be taken while waiting for opportunities to make the big moves which can actually shift the power into the hands of those who are looking to a brighter and healthier future for all who choose to embrace it.
  • A T-Square configuration involving Virgo Mars opposite Pisces Neptune Retrograde (17°, exact just under an hour after max phase), with both squared by Sagittarius Jupiter (16°). This tells us that practical actions will help us move ourselves closer to the fulfillment of our visions and dreams… yet we may need to ask ourselves if our actions and our dreams still align with our Truth and serve our personal growth. We may even need to come to terms with whether or not our work and/or our dreams ever really did align with the Truth of who we are – as individuals and as a community or humanity as a whole. This may be a moment in which we realize that we’ve outgrown our everyday routines, outgrown our dreams, or possibly outgrown both. It may be a call to dream a bigger dream, or to at least hold a bigger vision for ourselves and our lives than we have before now.

Other transits/energies of note during the max phase of this 2019 Pisces Full Moon:

  • Virgo Juno square Sagittarius Ceres (9°) – Similar to Jupiter’s role in the afore-mentioned T-Square, Ceres brings the value of growth, expansion, and experiential wisdom to the fore. As we become increasingly attached to our plans and processes (the Juno commitment part of this pairing), we may find ourselves challenged in our efforts and desires to stick with our plans. We may find that as we experience more of life outside our usual routines (by choice or by force), our worldview expands and our values become more open and tolerant, and as result, our plans end up limiting us rather than helping us grow. This may become a tug-o-war in which our plans inhibit our growth or our growth forces us to change/expand our plans.
  • Taurus Vesta trine (Virgo Mercury conjunct Venus) (27-29°) – Healing and healthy communications lead to healthy and healing relationships, which are important cornerstones in establishing a solid foundation for your life and lifestyle. If you are truly determined to bring as much stability and security as possible to your life at this time, it’s going to happen through your one-on-one relationships of all kinds. Now’s the time to be clear about which connections are working for you and which ones aren’t… and also to come to terms with the choices of others at this time as relationships are a two-way street.
  • Scorpio Pallas Athena opposite Taurus Uranus Retrograde (6-7°) – There’s a strong inclination to dive deep into the emotional and spiritual depths in order to understand the changes happening in our communities and societies right now OR there’s a strong resistance to acknowledging those changes on the emotional and/or spiritual levels. Either way, you’ll probably notice certain things will keep repeating themselves until you acknowledge the presence of change and decide how you’re going to consciously respond to it.
  • Scorpio Pallas Athena sextile Virgo Juno (7-9°) – Noting the afore-mentioned Pallas-Uranus opposition, depending on how you choose to consciously respond to the large-scale changes, you will become very committed to your personal plan of action in dealing with them. This will be a plan you may become very emotionally invested in, so be sure to approach this very practically and with some degree of flexibility as even the best plans may not be able to go as planned.

The energy of this 2019 Pisces Full Moon will be felt from Tuesday 10th through Monday 16th September.
