The 2018 Libra Full Moon reaches its maximum phase at 5:36a PDT on Saturday, 31st March 2018 (10.74°). This is no ordinary Full Moon – it is an extraordinary one. Its unique call for a balancing of the current societal and personal elements and energies in our lives is what makes this Full Moon extraordinary.

Matters of equality, fairness, and justice are being brought to the fore of our consciousness, and they must be addressed if peace is to be achieved. There cannot be peace in ourselves or in the world around us until the imbalances at the roots of our individual and collective anger and fear are addressed.

That said, this 2018 Libra Full Moon marks the end of the road in many ways. There is little if any patience left for empty talk – people want actions to back up the words. It’s time to “put up or shut up” when it comes to these matters of imbalance in our lives, and more and more people are learning to reject or challenge the pretty and petty words which often come from those in positions to do things who don’t (and won’t) do anything but maintain the status quo. People want something to change… and many are realizing that if change is to happen, they must instigate it themselves.

This Full Moon is also occurring on what is a numerological 9 universal day for almost the entire world – an energy of fulfillment, completions, and endings… and also authority. The tone of this day will be rather demanding as various parties are fed up with the back-and forth. People on both sides of the matters at hand have had enough of the debating and divisions, and are demanding these battles be brought to an end.

This demanding tone is amplified significantly by a Cardinal Grand Cross configuration comprised of the Aries 5 Sun (10.74°) conjunct Mercury Retrograde (12.93°) square Cancer White Moon Selene (10.67°) square Libra Moon (10.74°) square Capricorn Mars (7.79°) conjunct Saturn (8.89°) in effect at the time of the Full Moon’s maximum phase. Cardinal energy is initiative energy, so what seems to be ending is actually clearing the way for a new beginning. This configuration puts an astonishing amount of energy into play as the Sun brings attention to Mercury Retrograde’s communications, which challenge people’s heartfelt desires to be felt and expressed, which challenges the Libra Moon to face the harsh facts of the imbalances in our relationships of all kinds, which challenges us to be focused and disciplined in our actions to either maintain or change the structure of our society in ways which are conducive to equality, fairness, justice, and eventually, peace…

…but it’s going to have to get worse before it gets better.

That’s because those in the positions of power are doing and are going to continue doing everything they can to prevent equality, fairness, and justice from happening. They do not want their personal status quo nor the societal status quo to change… and with the Mars + Saturn conjunction in Capricorn (and with Mars being the ruling planet of Aries), those who have the material, physical, or financial upper hand in maintaining relational or societal structures will have the active power during this 2018 Libra Full Moon. If you look more closely, you’ll see them acting more quickly and aggressively than usual to advance whatever agendas and policies they can to secure and maintain their “authority”.

Yet don’t expect those who are trying to effect counter-changes are going to be quiet while this occurs. Those in power will have their challengers, and these aggressive challenges will be due in large part to Mercury Retrograde in Aries – the planet of thoughts, ideas, and communications coming back to address things that were not resolved the first time around… and maybe were not even paid attention to the first time around! They’ll demand to be seen and heard now, and they will be seen and heard due to Mercury Retrograde’s conjunction with the Aries 5 Sun. The Aries Sun will assist in bringing Mercury’s message to light yet again, and the 5 numerological month energy will make their voices powerful and effective catalysts for long-sought change which challenge those in the structural positions. Yet we must remember that retrograde energy is feedback and response energy, and unlike usual Aries Sun periods, this 2018 edition is one in which you must wait for an opportunity to present itself before you make your presence and voice heard. Otherwise, the harder you push, the more resistance you may meet.

The Libra Moon in opposition to this Aries Sun + Mercury Retrograde conjunction isn’t going to be trying to make nice, either. However, it does bring logic to the matters at hand, and the act of thinking before acting assists in preventing forced or rushed actions. The Libra Moon energy will also bring some fight to the table, only it will use its intuitive and intellectual fortitude to recognize the perfect opportunity to make sure its message of equality, fairness, and justice is undeniably heard and known.

If there is an outlier in this whole dynamic, it’s White Moon Selene opposite the Capricorn Mars + Saturn conjunction. Selene is determined to apply a caring, nurturing approach to addressing these concerns. Selene challenges everyone involved to acknowledge the emotional truths we are each and all experiencing, and rather than protecting our own hearts and/or the hearts of those who share our beliefs and positions, it encourages each and all of us to consider we are all worth protecting. This perspective challenges and in some ways, balances the combative energy found in the other three positions in the Grand Cross.

There is one other significant aspect occurring on this 2018 Libra Full Moon day – Pisces Juno (16.74°) and Neptune (14.92°) are still within 3° conjunction orb of each other at the time of the Full Moon’s max phase, and a commitment to the Oneness ideal is still very much present as result. Yet this Juno + Neptune conjunction is sextile to Capricorn Black Moon Lilith (15.83°), which indicates that the push for compassion and peace may have good intentions, but also has ego-driven motivations… and the ego’s standards come first. It would be wise to question any “kumbaya” messages from those in positions of power or influence for even though their words seem to be peaceful, their intentions may be anything but. Messages of peace from those in power are likely meant to distract or delude – they are only pleasant façades for their efforts to maintain the status quo.

Capricorn Lilith and the Pisces Juno + Neptune conjunction are also both quincunx the Leo North Node and semi-sextile the Aquarius South Node (13.42°), creating a “Boomerang” configuration. This indicates that in order for individuals to step into their boldest, most unique self-expressions, we must address the impact of these fraudulent “do-gooder” images on the whole of humanity on our collective consciousness. We have been conditioned to believe what people say, not what they do… and if anything, this 2018 Libra Full Moon + Cardinal Grand Cross teaches us that the ugly truth of people’s actions are just as if not more important than the pretty words they use to explain or excuse their behaviors. This boomerang configuration affirms that not all is what it appears to be.

That all said, this 2018 Libra Full Moon may prove to be either a day of significant events or a day on which significant events find their genesis. Out of the endings of the status qo, a new path emerges…

…but whether the path of regression or the path of progression is taken has yet to be seen.

The effects of this 2018 Libra Full Moon have been felt since 27th March, and will be felt through 2nd April.
