Jupiter enters Scorpio at 6:20a PDT on 10th October 2017. This day is a mighty big deal on a number of different levels. Let’s take a look at why.
First, numerologically, this is a 10-10-10 day (or a 1-1-1 day) – the 10th day of the 10th month of a year which reduces first to a 10 (2 + 0 + 1 + 7 = 10). This date ultimately reduces to a 3, which in itself is a rather synchronistic universal day.
That’s because 3 is known as the number of growth and expansion in numerology. It’s child/student energy, and I like to say that there’s things to learn and experiences to have as “the more it learns and knows, the more it grows”. If I were to translate 3’s numeric energy into astrological terms, it would be very similar to the Gemini-Sagittarius axis, which is ruled by the planets Mercury and Jupiter.
This is where Jupiter entering Scorpio on this 10-10-10- day – on a 3 universal day – is significant.
Jupiter itself makes things bigger. It’s all about growth, expansion, and abundance, so the sign Jupiter is traveling through is going to have a larger presence – it’s going to be a bigger deal simply because Jupiter is there.
Scorpio is a fixed water sign. That sounds like an oxymoron, but it’s not. I promise. Scorpio is the water/emotional-spiritual end of the Taurus-Scorpio axis, or what I like to call “the Axis of Influence and Power“. Taurus is your lifestyle resources – everything physical and material you need to sustain your self-identity. Scorpio is how you feel about your lifestyle resources, or more specifically, how others make you feel in regard to your resources. This is why food, shelter, money, and sex hold so much weight for us as humans. It’s because we (sadly) often use the Taurus resources to control and manipulate each other emotionally on the Scorpio end. When we feel we have no power or influence in our lives because we don’t have control over our bodies, our lifestyles, or our lifestyle conditions, we feel insecure, unsafe, and at risk – unwilling to be vulnerable. This is why Scorpio is also known as the sign of vulnerability and trust – in order to trust someone, we must trust that they will not compromise our livelihood and/or our physical safety… and this trust requires our guard down emotionally and/or spiritually.
Vulnerability is important in this case and at this time because we are letting people know where we feel our fears and values most deeply – what we value most emotionally and spiritually. We are letting people into our deepest, sometimes even darkest feelings and beliefs. This 2017-2018 Jupiter in Scorpio is going to expand our sense of vulnerability. It’s going to call upon us to not only be more vulnerable, but require us to feel more vulnerable because our environments are becoming more polarized.
It may not seem like it as we go through the next 13 months, but Jupiter is also known for its jolly, optimistic, positive energy. Therefore, it is important for us to remember that even though Jupiter in Scorpio may be bringing greater awareness of our polarities, it may also make the divide between the polarities even bigger for the better. This increase in divide is actually a positive thing as it will push many of us to stop attempting to straddle the middle of matters and make decisions which bring us to one side or the other. This is good because most of us don’t realize just how much energy we are using in order to hide in the gray area between two extremes in many matters of our lives – both public and private. The good news is that by choosing one side or the other, we actually give ourselves greater freedom to express ourselves. We know where we stand, and we know (or can learn) where others stand as we are all under this influence, being asked to choose sides to avoid falling into the chasm of the growing divide.
The bad news is that it may seem that things are getting worse before they become better. The extremes will become more extreme. Polarities will become more polarized. The Increased awareness will also mean increased emotional energy as the matters-at-hand reach more deeply into our emotional-spiritual cores. The topics of division will come into our everyday lives, into our one-on-one interactions with others. We will begin to question who we can trust with our deepest feelings as what we believed to be our deepest truths are now in question. Scorpio has trust issues, and Jupiter in this sign will magnify the areas where trust waivers or does not exist.
But again – there’s good reason for it. Let’s go back to the numerology and another look at the date’s components to see why.
One is initiative energy – the beginning of things, leadership by initiative, getting things started. Zero is the beginning AND the end – the alpha and omega, the cycle of life, nothing AND everything at the same time. Together, one and zero combine to make ten.
It would be easy to reduce each of the date components down to 1s and say that this day is all about an energetic portal of consciousness opening up our thoughts and words, bringing whatever we think or speak about into manifestation… which it is. But this date represents SO much more than that. Ten is the number of renewal, of beginning again, of starting from the end… and that is far more Scorpionic.
That’s because Scorpio also represents transformation – the death of one form of existence in order to enable another form of existence to emerge. Think less ‘zombie’ and more ‘caterpillar to butterfly’. This isn’t a raising of the dead, but rather allowing something to end in order for something new to begin.
The 2017-2018 Jupiter in Scorpio is expanding our awareness of the polarities which divide us because we cannot overcome what we won’t recognize as a rift or divide. We first must acknowledge that the rifts really do exist, and then we must face them in order to overcome them. We can no longer ignore they don’t exist.
Our old, outdated ideas of and approaches to bridging the divide get to be released in order to find a new way of coming together to emerge. That will require us to let go of our attachment to doing the same things we’ve done in the past (which did NOT work) in order to find solutions and bridge the gaps in the present which enable the new ways to transcend the divisions and bring us together in the future.
This will also magnify the polarities we are experiencing within ourselves. As the space between external polarities increase, we will individually experience a pull within our individual selves to stand on one side or the other of the growing polarities – the call is becoming louder, demanding that we decide where we want to stand. The question will not be which side we are standing on in the eyes of others, but rather, which side are we standing on in our own eyes and hearts.
It’s time for a renewed approach to bridging the divides within us and around us, and the 2017-2018 Jupiter in Scorpio on this 10.10.10 day marks the beginning of that process… by increasing our awareness of those divides and by pushing us to make choices we might otherwise avoid making.
This day and this ingress together – it’s a mighty big deal.
