After almost 19 months in Libra and Aries, the Moon’s Nodal Axis changes signs. At 5:05p PST today, 11th November, the North Node moves into the sign of Virgo, which means the South Node moves into the sign of Pisces. The Moon’s nodes are currently in retrograde motion, as they are most of the time. That is why they move “in reverse” natural Zodiac order through the signs, and why they are now moving from Aries-Libra into Pisces/Virgo.

The Moon’s Nodal Axis is a collective karmic axis. It reveals the bigger picture lessons we are being asked to learn under its energy in order to evolve as a collective whole (humanity, Oneness). The South Node represents the karmic lessons we’ve already mastered, while the North Node represents the lessons we are now being called to learn and master in order to progress. Yet the work’s not done once we learn and master the North Node – we get to bring our North Node lessons learned back to the South Node and practice that energy with new awareness.

To understand where we’re going, let’s first discuss where we’ve been.

For the last 19 months, the Nodal Axis has been in Libra-Aries. The Libra North Node lessons were all about matters of fairness, justice, equality, and partnership. Matters involving one-on-one relationships of all kinds were at the fore, and any relationships which were unjust, unfair, or unequal were brought forward to be balanced. Of course, with the Aries South Node, initiative action was the default response, and the motivation behind any actions taken made all the difference in how those matters were or weren’t addressed. If there was resistance to or denial of the injustices and inequalities being brought forth, the activity was likely fearful, angry, and threatening which often led to violent, irrational, and impulsive acts as people fought for their status quo, refusing to give up their “fight” or positions of “leadership”. However, if there was acceptance and/or acknowledgment of the injustices and inequalities being revealed, the pro-active responses were likely peaceful, rational, and well-planned to encourage communication if not collaboration. I call the Aries-Libra axis “the Axis of Identity”, and its interaction with the Nodal Axis brought us exercises and lessons in releasing self-interest for interest in equal, balanced, and peaceful relationships with others.

Now the Nodal Axis moves into the signs of Virgo and Pisces, which I call “the Axis of Service”, and it ushers in lessons of practice and purpose in matters of health, wellness, and functionality. The Virgo side (mutable earth) approaches service from a practical, physical, earthly perspective – it is the day-to-day work that needs to be done in the most efficient and effective way possible. The Pisces side (mutable water) approaches service from a visionary, philanthropic, and transcendental perspective – it is the visual and performing arts, environmental conservation work, servitude to a religious or spiritual belief, or even cosmology – anything that has us feel connected to something bigger than ourselves and bigger than the world.

Pisces energy is dreamy, idealistic, and sometimes delusional. Where Virgo usually has its feet on the ground ready to take practical steps to either make things work or make things work better, Pisces is off floating around, dreaming about how to make things better. With the South Node moving into Pisces, we now get to notice where we talk a big game and paint pretty pictures of what it would or could be like to manifest our visionary ideal. However, the questions rise and linger.

Does it really work? Can we really make the vision our reality?

This is where the Virgo North Node brings forth its lessons of practical purpose and functionality. You’ll probably start noticing the following questions coming up more and more:

  • Will it work? What’s the plan?
  • Does it work? How does it work?
  • What purpose does it serve?
  • Will it make me feel better physically and emotionally?
  • What does it do for me? How does it make my life easier?

These questions are meant to bring Pisces’ visionary dreaminess into balance with Virgo’s practical functionality. Of course, those strongly influenced by Pisces may have a tough time with this grounding, and this resistance is what brings forward the lessons to be learned from the Virgo-Pisces Axis.

These karmic lessons come in the form of martyrdom and/or victimization. Pisces often plays victim to others when it is emotionally or energetically overwhelmed trying to meet others’ ideals OR when it’s afraid of facing and dealing with everyday reality, and it plays martyr when it is sacrificing its own (emotional-spiritual) well-being, foregoing its own inner truth and beliefs for those of others. But Virgo has its moments, too, often playing victim to others when it’s trying to hold others accountable and/or responsible for its own work and condition, and it playing martyr when it finds itself doing more than its fair share of work – often handling responsibilities and/or doing work others should be doing for themselves.

This is the collective karma that now gets to be addressed. During the next 18 months, you may begin noticing that you and others are having (or facing) less tolerance for people proclaiming their victim and martyr stances, and more calls for those people to toughen up and take responsibility for their circumstances, work, and/or whatever they want. It’s only after those people and groups actually have to “walk their talk” or “walk in another person’s shoes” that they develop the capacity for compassion and empathy, and begin to practice the refined expression of the Pisces South Node – authentic and empathic service to others. Once people understand why it’s so important to practice what they preach, they begin to live their lives and see others’ lives in new, more compassionate ways.

As there are more calls for self-responsibility, you may also notice that people will begin awakening to their self-sacrifice, or in some cases, their self-sabotage. They may realize that their efforts to serve others have actually been their way of avoiding realities about themselves and their lives that they don’t want to deal with – “service” has been their escape from their emotional pain, their anger, their belief in their victimization, etc. This could be a very challenging time as we notice more and more people confronting their emotional truths. Conditions such as depression, bi-polarity, and borderline personalities may increasingly come to the surface to be acknowledged and addressed in a large-scale way for the purpose of exploring new treatments and creating pathways to emotional healing.

There’s one more way this Virgo-Pisces karma will make its presence known – encouragement to take the steps to make our visions and dreams our reality. Those way-out ideas you’ve had? They may not be so far out there after all…that is, if you’re willing to do the work it will take to make them real. As far as that work goes, it’s a call to take steps in alignment with our visions and ideals by doing things in the day-to-day of our lives embody our ideals rather than counter or otherwise thwart them. We get to prove our beliefs through how we practice them – we get to prove our faith through our work.

The work is what will draw the line between those who are credible and those who are delusional. It can’t be pictures and stories – there’s got to be some substance. There’s got to be some proof that what is being promised can be delivered. This may also have people beginning to recognize and take responsibility for what they individually believe about their interconnection with others, how they practice their beliefs, and how can they better align their beliefs and practices.

The Nodal Axis will be in Virgo-Pisces today, 11th November 2015, through early May 2017. Make the most of this time to get real with yourself, face and heal your emotional-spiritual wounds, take responsibility for your condition and position in your life’s journey,  and make your dreams the reality of your life. You and the people around you will be the better for it as you learn you’re in the best position to serve others when you are healthy, well, and have your own everyday needs served and met.

And it’s not lost on me – the perfect synchronicity of this transition into the Axis of Service on Veterans’ Day here in the U.S. – a day on which we thank our military veterans for their service in the armed forces.

Service indeed.
