We experience the 2019 Capricorn Full Moon at 2:38p PDT on Tuesday 16th July 2019 (24.07). This Full Moon is also a Partial Lunar Eclipse, representing the Earth getting in the way of the Moon’s reflection of the Sun’s light… or if we want to bring that into literal terms, worldly matters getting in the way of our ability to see the truth of our hearts being reflected by our collective emotional truth. We are now seeing how our emotional realities are showing up our “real world” manifestations, or rather, how they are trying to manifest. And as we experience the results of our efforts to date, we are being given opportunities to recognize that which no longer serves us well and that which does serve us well and needs to be continued.

Of course, our perceptions of what serves us well may vary depending on our individual objectives… and therein lies the rub. Not everyone has the same idea of what serves us well collectively, and not everyone has the same idea of what serves them well individually.

This 2019 Capricorn Full Moon + Partial Lunar Eclipse will be an exercise in learning to stand up for ourselves and our personal standards in the face of societal expectations. It will also be an exercise in learning to stand up for the collective experience we intend to be part of.

Capricorn energy is all about goals and ambitions. Intentions are set here, even though it is the 10th sign of the Zodiac. That’s because with its cardinal earth energy, Capricorn initiates the manifestation process, starting with the end in mind.

Capricorn is where we create our individual and societal standards for success. We define our places and roles in society here (based upon the standards we collectively set). From here, we determine which resources are needed (Taurus), which methods may need to be employed to maximize those resources (Virgo), and some of us may even set timelines or deadlines for the completion of the process we are starting here (Capricorn on the finishing side). We also recognize that moving through this process and accomplishing such goals requires focus and discipline.

The interesting thing about having this Full Moon + Partial Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn is that it reveals how our strong Cancerian emotional energies are being tempered by the cold, hard facts of reality right now – facts which are forcing us to acknowledge and focus our emotional energies on what we’re really intending to manifest or achieve. We are learning that Love alone is not enough. We are learning the hard way that, sometimes, Love needs a plan.

The thing is… our emotions don’t always do well under so much structure. Boundaries aren’t natural for Cancer’s emotional energy, which prefers to be open and fully expressed… yet that is what happens with Moon in Capricorn – our emotions need to be focused and disciplined if we are to achieve our objectives and goals. This requires not only plans but emotional boundaries to be set, and sometimes, these plans and boundaries come bundled, or rather, burdened with expectations.

Blending astrology and numerology as I do, I recognize that the light of the Cancer 1 Sun is the light being reflected by the Capricorn Moon (Cancer Sun + 1 universal month). Cancer 1 is the energy of “the Mother of No Boundaries” – an assertive, initiative emotional expression. It doesn’t wait for others to say that it’s okay to feel a certain way or acceptable to nurture or care for oneself or others – it simply takes action to show how much it cares… and often acts it without regard for whether others want that nurturing emotional support or not. But under this 2019 Capricorn Full Moon, we get to experience the emotional boundaries of others, and as result, we may experience not only some intense emotional rejection, but the need to set our own emotional boundaries in order to protect ourselves. This is a call for us to recognize:

  1. Just because we feel a certain way doesn’t mean everyone around us feels that way.
  2. Just because we want to express love and care for someone or something doesn’t mean everyone wants to receive that loving care.
  3. Just because we love and care for others doesn’t mean those others will love or care for us in kind.

Number three on the list may be the most painful truth we may learn under this 2019 Capricorn Full Moon + Partial Lunar Eclipse. This lunar event is here to teach us that just because we give loving and nurturing support to others does not mean they will reciprocate. This lunar event will teach us that when we give with an expectation of return or exchange, we are bound to be disappointed… and left to come to terms with what we really wanted out of the connection.

That said, this disappointment can become our catalyst for transformation.

Profound, life-altering transformation.

This may be the moment that we finally, earnestly, and completely let go of the emotional patterns and attachments which no longer serve us, and begin to embrace the unknown and uncertain future we’ve feared… because the fear of the unknown is finally more appealing than our now-apparent discomfort with the known.

This transformation moment is indicated by the one single transit which directly interacts with the Sun-Moon Full Moon + Eclipse opposition. Capricorn Pluto Retrograde conjunct Moon (21-24°) is still within 3° orb at the time of the Moon’s maximum full phase. This Moon-Pluto Rx conjunction reveals the transformative power of this Full Moon + Partial Lunar Eclipse – a power which can and will upset the apple cart of both our personal status quo and the collective/institutional status quo. Under the influence of this transit, we will finally have to concede that things are not business as usual, no matter how much those in the positions of power in our lives may try to pretend that they are. The world is changing, and the types of emotional and institutional support we need to make those changes successfully requires an update not a return to the past. This becomes more obvious now than ever.

This is also a numerological 8 universal day, which remarkably amplifies the effect of this Plutonian transit on the Capricorn Full Moon + Partial Lunar Eclipse phase. Eight is the number of power and influence, and this numerological energy clearly brings those subjects to the fore of our matters-at-hand in tandem with the astrological dynamics.

Though that is the only directly interactive transit, there are some other very interesting and significant planetary geometry events happening during this 2019 Capricorn Full Moon + Partial Lunar Eclipse.

  • There is a Golden Rectangle configuration, which is usually a positive configuration, but this one has some challenging energies.

Cancer Venus conjunct North Node (16-17°) sextile Virgo White Moon Selene (17°) trine Capricorn Saturn Retrograde conjunct South Node (16-17°) sextile Pisces Neptune Retrograde (18°) – This configuration may find us nostalgically glorifying the past, even with our current emotional connections and partnerships trying to pull us into the future. This is especially the case when it comes to our personal and societal standards for success and/or societal status. Despite the emotional fervor to change our collective ways, we are still hesitant to move forward. Yet the gold to be found in this attachment to the past is that there are lessons to be learned from it, and the question this configuration brings forth is… can we learn these lessons of the past to keep us from repeating the worst of that past, both collectively and in our individual personal lives? Are we really ready to level up our lives? Are we really ready to experience a Higher, more loving and inclusive existence, individually and collectively?

  • There is also a T-Square configuration.

Cancer Venus conjunct North Node (16-17°) square Libra Pallas Athena (17°)square Capricorn Saturn Retrograde conjunct South Node (16-17°) – With Pallas Athena at the pivot of this configuration, there is the indication that the behavior and balance patterns in play are now obvious. The question is… how are we going to balance out the imbalance that is now present?  Those reaping the benefits of the imbalance are the ones who have structural and institutional control. Yet have those who are struggling and suffering under the weight of the imbalance seem to still be looking for those in power to act as supportive ‘partners’ in the human condition. When will those carrying the weight finally have enough to take action to tip the scales? Is that time now?

This dynamic isn’t only playing out on the large scale. This is also an imbalance occurring in our personal relationships. Notice who is in the position of power in your relationship(s), and notice who is desperately and futilely expecting support from the other party which is clearly more focused on “getting theirs” than genuinely caring for or about others.

  • There is also a Sequence.

Pisces Black Moon Lilith semi-sextile Aries Chiron Retrograde semi-sextile Taurus Uranus (5-8°) – A heightened awareness of the darker aspects of Pisces energy (victimization, martyrdom, self-sacrifice for the greater or Higher good, etc) leads to recognition of your unhealthy adoption of others’ self-identity wounds, which may lead to a shift in the lifestyle values you seek.

In other words, you may realize that you’ve been playing victim to beliefs that were never yours to begin with, and now that you see it, you can choose to seek new communities/environments in which to develop new lifestyle values which actually assist you in learning to support yourself. It’s time to let go of the connections to individuals and communities which keep you down.

Other non-configuration transits of note occurring during the 2019 Capricorn Full Moon + Partial Lunar Eclipse:

  • Leo Mars conjunct Juno (9-12°) – If you simply take the first step, a path may appear. Creative actions and other acts of self-expression awaken one’s commitment to further creative self-expression.
  • Leo Juno trine Sagittarius Jupiter Retrograde (12-15°) – Once you commit to your creative self-expression, you may notice that opportunities to move forward and upward on this path come to you. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and shine your light. Others need to see you if they’re going to find you.
  • Leo Mercury trine Sagittarius Ceres Retrograde (0-1°) – Your thoughts and words have more creative power than you could possibly imagine right now, and they are reflected in your personal values. How open are you to experiencing something new? How open are you to experiencing something True? Experiencing new and/or true may empower you to also show up as your real and true self, which leads to the essential question – are you ready to experience “the real you”?

The energy of this 2019 Capricorn Full Moon has been in effect since Saturday 13th July, and will be felt through 19th July… but the effects of the eclipse will play a role in our lives over the next six months if not longer, depending on the events which occur.

Your life may never be the same after this Full Moon + Partial Lunar Eclipse… and even if it doesn’t feel like it now, today’s pain may lead to tomorrow’s pleasure.

Trust the process… and buckle up. If it hasn’t already been one for you, this week is likely to be one wild ride as transformation begins in earnest.
