The 2019 Aries New Moon reaches its maximum phase at 1:50a PDT on Friday 5th April (15.28), ushering in a period of new beginnings. This is not just the first New Moon of the new Zodiac year, this is also a New Moon which brings powerful initiative action to the matters at hand – action which can shift matters in ways which make a enduring impact on all of us, both collectively and individually.

Aries is the first sign of the Zodiac. Known as the “ram”, it represents one who pushes their way forward – the I AM as an independent individual, alone to initiate its journey by forging its own path. Its actions would define its place and role in its environment if it weren’t for the fact that it knows no other role than to simply be itself. Therefore, its actions define it.

When it meets another individual, it can only act as itself. When its self-identity is questioned, that questioning is perceived as reason to fight… in self-defense. Those first interactions affect how one perceives themselves to be; it will shape or alter its definition of self.

The 2019 Aries New Moon will inspire us to take emotionally-driven actions to create our self-identities… for ourselves. Though we may try to make it about others, and though we may fight others as if they were responsible for the changes we are experiencing, the most challenging emotional battles we face under this New Moon influence won’t really be about anyone else – they’ll only about how we choose to feel about ourselves and who we choose to be through our actions. This New Moon phase brings an opportunity for each and all of us to redefine ourselves if we have wanted to make changes to our self-identities.

Aries’ identity is created through its actions – what it chooses to do is reflective of how it defines itself. Our choices to take action as well as other events and experiences throughout this month will encourage us to assess whether or not we are actually being the people we want to be – if we are actually living our lives as our True selves, or if we’re going through each day pretending to be people we aren’t. Either way, the 2019 Aries New Moon will get us in touch with our feelings and emotional states around all of these self-expressions, teaching us or reminding us that whether or not we like it, we are indeed who our chosen actions create us to be and our actions are informed by our internal perceptions of our individual self-identities.

Numerologically speaking, this 2019 Aries New Moon occurs on a 3 universal day of learning, growth, and expansion for almost all areas of the world.  A few areas in the far western Pacific will still be under the influence of an 11 universal day (community, peer leadership, inspiration, illumination), but for most of the world, the 3 universal day energy brings the energy of the child or student to the matters of the day. Since New Moons represent new beginnings, this is a call to apply this initiative and active energy with the mind of a child or student – open and willing to learn and grow through the knowledge you gain through your experiences.

Of course, with Aries’ cardinal fire energy in the driver’s seat, this 3 day energy will give us plenty of opportunities to be in action, creating and defining ourselves for ourselves. This is a call to learn from our actions as well as to learn from the actions of others around us. How can we learn to be better individuals in the world?  How can we be creative in ways which don’t only benefit ourselves, but also others? There’s something about 3 energy which reminds us that even if it’s only one person at a time and starting with our individual selves, it only takes one spark of creative inspiration to ignite a flame of passion capable of changing the world. WE will be inspired by this Aries New Moon to figure out how we can individually contribute to the societal shifts occurring in the world.

There’s also the fact that the 3 universal day energy is amplified by the 3 universal year energy. Things which are initiated or that occur under the influence of this Aries New Moon are likely to play vital and expansive roles in the events to come throughout the remainder of 2019. Pay extra special attention to any announcements, events, or occurrences which are started or launched today as they may prove to be rather significant to individuals and to the ideas of autonomy and/or independence in the coming days, weeks, and months.

All of this is happening during a 7 universal month of intellect, thought, and consideration of all possibilities – science and spirit. These growth opportunities are remarkably well thought out and well-planned. Yet those who are intimidated by the prospects of growth and change are finding themselves maybe a bit overeager to respond to them, resulting in impulsive actions which may not be as thought out or prepared for. These panicked actions to prevent growth from occurring may end up creating more chaos, damage, and acceleration of the dreaded changes rather than the restriction of them.

All of this growth potential seen in the numerology is important to note because there is also a great deal of activity on the astrology side of things. When combined, this Aries New Moon is a very potent force for initiation.

So what’s being started?

A generational shift of power.

Plainly put, there are two very different philosophies about which way the world should move from here and now. Most of the members of one generational group (Baby Boomers and Crisis Gens – born 1942-1958; 1956-1970) is desperately trying to maintain the status quo, while most of the members of the other generational group (Gen Y, and the Millennials – born 1984-1996; 1996-2010) is desperately trying to push the world to evolve and modernize. (Interestingly enough, most remaining Silent Gens – born 1929-1943 – tend to side with the younger group. Gen X – born
1968-1984 – is the swing generation, trying to bridge and balance the two extremes AND trying to bring justice and fairness back into the process.)

You’ll notice how those who are in positions of institutional power and have held their positions for a while are now mobilizing in an effort to sustain their roles. Our societal institutions and structures have become imbalanced as result of the older generations’ unwillingness to move on. This is evident in the determination being shown by younger individuals vying to replace those in these positions of societal power – those who are trying to challenge the old guard with the intention of balancing the scales within the societal systems and structures in place, or possibly even through the creation of new societal structures and institutions to restore a healthy balance to society.

The old guard thinks they’re outsmarting the younger generations; but in today’s technological age, their usual strategies and tricks are well-documented and therefore well-known by the young folks who are faster and smarter than they are in using the tools available to them to influence public opinion. The younger generations also value compassion, caring, and a commitment to the communication/sharing of information as they pursue their goals – qualities that many folks in the older generations either lack or are dismissive of. This contrast of values between the old and the young is evident in how they go about their various crusades and campaigns, whether they are for change or for maintaining the status quo.

This shift in values and therefore, the shift in power will be felt not just on the collective level. There will also be very poignant and powerful shifts for individuals on both the personal and professional levels of their lives as result of the generational battles ensuing. These larger conflicts will force people to look at who they are choosing to be in their lives and in the world as individuals within these communites – who are they being; how are they behaving; what do they really think and/or believe; are they being true to themselves; how do they feel about themselves; what do they really want?

The questions are being asked of you, too. Who are YOU being? How are YOU behaving? What do YOU really think and/or believe about yourself? How do YOU feel about yourself and your life? Whay do YOU really want?

In fact, the events born of this Aries New Moon are likely to challenge you to figure out who you want to be and if you are being that person now. It will also inspire you and other individuals to stand up for yourselves and (re)claim your self-identities. For some of you, this will be both a defining and revealing of self; while for others who have been on your awakened personal evolutionary journeys for a while now, you may experience this as a rebirthing or redefinition of your self-identities.

Once you have (re)defined your self for yourself, you will more than likely find yourself ready to take action, beginning to consciously create your life in ways which make you proud of yourself and the life you are living. But remember – we are in an Aries 7 Sun energy, and though the New Moon energy may make us feel that we can do anything now that we are clear(er) about who we truly are and want to be, if we haven’t really thought all of those details through, it may be wise to pause and do at least a little planning before acting upon our emotional highs.

Now let’s discuss the astrological transits occurring during this 2019 Aries New Moon which verify and support all of this activity:

The Aries New Moon is actually a conjunction of the Sun and Moon in the sign of Aries. These two bodies are in trine aspect to Sagittarius Ceres at the time of max phase (14-15°). This indicates the increasing value of experiential and intellectual growth and expansion, and how this encourages and inspires individuals to step into their greatest individual potential(s).

The Aries New Moon conjunction is also in semi-sextile aspect with Pisces Neptune and, loosely, Pisces Mercury (15-18°). This reveals the power of voicing one’s artistic and/or creative vision for oneself, and bring attention to how the verbal and physical communications of that vision play in supporting an individual’s self-responsible and self-realizing actions.

There is a STELLIUM of Capricorn Saturn conjunct South Node conjunct Pluto (20-23°) – societal institutions and structures that adhere to tradition and past-based standards are experiencing transformation, doing all they can within their positional power to fight their death/demise.

  • Square Libra Pallas Athena Retrograde (21°) – They are being challenged by a determination to balance the power structure; the strategies and tricks are well-known to their opposition…
  • Opposite Cancer North Node (21°) – … an opposition which demands attention be paid to the emotional and nurturing needs of the greater whole; they are calling for compassion and care to be implemented into societal institutions and structures.

The Pallas Athena square and the Cancer North Node opposition to the Stellium create a T-SQUARE configuration, revealing tension in efforts to balance the old guard trying to maintain their roles and stay focused on their (outdated?) goals, with the new guard eager to take over and update those goals and objectives to they believe is truly needed in the world as it is now.

Yet the Capricorn STELLIUM also makes quincunx transit with Gemini Juno (22°) – revealing a commitment to a communication and information demanded by the public is not shared by those in positions of power; this creates a major disconnect from those the people in power want to reach, but it also reveals an underestimation by those in power of the ability for others (especially younger folks) to do their research and be well-informed on the matters of importance to them; the younger generations understand far more than the older generations realize; this is what may cost the established guard their power.

There is also a SEQUENCE of Aries Vesta conjunct Chiron (0-2°) semi-sextile Taurus Uranus (1°) semi-sextile Gemini Mars (3°) – determined efforts to heal self-identity wounds lead to reassessments of what is valued and/or valuable in our communities, which leads to actions – a “put up or shut up” approach to implementing those changes in value systems; pay attention to body language and response behavior to know how individuals really feel – their self-identity wounds will show up in their actions and assist you in navigating the evolving society and personal values

Other significant transits of note reveal the importance of communication during this 2019 Aries New Moon:

  • Gemini Juno opposite Sagittarius Jupiter (22-24°) – a commitment to exchanges of communication and information in order to balance a desire for growth and expansion that is backed with wisdom and experience
  • Gemini Juno trine Libra Pallas Athena Retrograde (21-22°) – a commitment to a communication and information demanded by the public is encouraged by recognition of the pattern of behavior in long-establish relationships; people want to break the patterns, they want to be respected, treated as equals – have their intellectual power recognized
  • Gemini Mars square Virgo White Moon Selene (2-3°) – Actions may speak louder than words, but if you don’t have a plan, those actions may not be productive; when your actions are aligned with your Highest intentions, things progress quickly.
  • Taurus Uranus trine Virgo White Moon Selene (1-2°) – To best support your community’s newly-emerging values, create and implement plans which support the Highest intentions and outcomes for those values.

When considering these energies altogether, the 2019 Aries New Moon brings an energy of eagerness to begin something new, different, progressive, and evolutionary – a future in which action is paramount, communication is essential, and compassion is the key to success is now being born.

Who wins the battles now, and how will the victories (or losses) affect the greater collective shift in progress? How are those generational power plays affecting how you see yourself in the world? And are the power plays inspiring you to change who and how you want to be and feel about yourself in the world?

We may find out sooner than later.

The energy of the 2019 Aries New Moon will be felt from the 2nd through 8th of April.
