The Scorpio New Moon reaches its maximum phase at 3:41a PST on Saturday, 18th November 2017 (26.32°). We will be feeling the full destructive power of Scorpio as this New Moon’s energy comes into play… and this is not a bad thing.
That’s because Scorpio’s destructive energy is collapsing the corrupted power structures within our societies – exposing the lies and pretenses, revealing the hypocrisies, purging the falsehoods and façades. Though there have been truths exposed before now, this 2017 Scorpio New Moon marks the beginning of a clearing of epic proportions – the transformation of all that is not true or not in alignment with our personal and collective truths.
Let’s not kid ourselves – this is indeed a dark period. Yet what is actually happening is that we are being brought closer to the Light of Truth. It’s in moments like this – moments of emotional desperation when darkness seems at its darkest – when we are most willing and ready to receive Light.
This 2017 Scorpio New Moon will be bringing many issues of power and influence to the fore, especially abuses of power by those in executive positions in various societal institutions (such as corporations, educational institutions, and governments). Under the influence of the Scorpio Sun since 22nd October, these issues have begun to be examined on a deeper, more substantial level. Under this 2017 Scorpio New Moon, the impact of these toxic and abusive behaviors becomes more expansive and more established in the collective consciousness, marking a point of no return and setting us on a collective course of transformation.
Numerologically speaking, the 2017 Scorpio New Moon is occurring on a 3 universal day, which encourages inquiry, learning, and growth. It’s also in a 3 universal month, which amplifies the qualities of the day, and a 1 universal year, which brings an energy of new beginnings, fresh starts, and initiative action. Together, these energies blend to bring energies of inquiry and understanding to the fore. Questions are being asked about what is really at the root of these behaviors, and the ideas and ideals of what it means to be successful and powerful with integrity are now being challenged to their cores. People are now wondering just how severe the problems are and how deeply these abuses of power run. The answers are bringing a growing awareness of the evolution upon us… or, in other words, we are beginning to see the transformation of how power is achieved and wielded within our societal institutions.
Transformation is not simply change. It is the death of one way of being in order to allow for the emergence of an entirely new way of being. Think caterpillar to butterfly – the creature that goes into the chrysalis looks nothing like the one that emerges. What is happening to our perceptions and beliefs about power and influence are beginning to experience the same process. What we have believed and accepted until now is not the same as what will be believed or acceptable moving forward. We are now travelling on a new path, and we will see the effects of this shift playing out not just over the next few days and weeks, but over many months and years to come.
Of course, as we begin to experience a shift in our collective definitions of power and influence and what it means to be a person who has power and influence within our societal institutions, this will also result in a shift in what it means to be a victim or a martyr. The definition of victims as being powerless and unable to do anything about being seen as lesser or the ones to own the blame are also shifting. The people who see themselves in the old paradigm of victimization will not be given the same empathy (or lack thereof) they’ve received in the past. As what defines power and influence shift – as those abuses of power and influence are exposed – the way victims react or respond to those abuses must also change. They must become stronger and more vocal.
All of these dynamics are revealed in the transits active during the upcoming 2017 Scorpio New Moon. Let’s look at them now to gain more specific insight.
- The New Moon (Scorpio 3 Sun conjunct Moon) trine with Pisces Chiron Retrograde – The victim/martyr dialogue is becoming too much to -bear. Something’s got to give as the increasing awareness of the emotional-spiritual woundedness is creating a desperation to ease the pain and heal the wounds. This transit marks the realization that something major gets to shift in the way we deal with matters which are emotionally sensitive.
- Scorpio New Moon conjunction quincunx with Aries Uranus Retrograde – Many people are feeling the absence of a sense of community. Watching others acting in futility with their efforts to have deeper, more substantial interactions about the challenges we are collectively facing, people are wondering what they could do individually to inspire and encourage people to come together as a unified and productive whole.
- Scorpio New Moon conjunction semi-sextile with Sagittarius Saturn – The intensity of emotional-spiritual revelation leads to a (forced) acceptance of factual truths and alignment with or rebellion against those truths is decided upon.

- Sagittarius Saturn square Pisces Chiron Retrograde – Emerging facts challenges the wounds of victimization. This works two ways –1) challenging those being accused (or proven) criminals to prove they are not guilty of what they have done or continue to do; 2) challenging those who are claiming to be victims of crimes to prove they are truly victims; and 3) challenging those who are making sacrifices to be activists for one side or another to be clear about exactly what it is they are advocating for. It is a reminder that just because we feel upset or angry about something doesn’t make it true, and we are being asked to back up our emotional and intuitive feelings with facts to prove them to be true. This may not seem fair or just, yet it is important because benchmarks for new societal standards of behavior are being established through these challenges.
- Pisces Chiron Retrograde semi-sextile Aries Uranus Retrograde – Being a victim isn’t enough, and no one is going to do anything about it unless the victim does something about it. Victims are being seen or represented as spineless, weak, and powerless. However, this transit reveals that as result of the disregard for victims, those in victim mindset are now being led to take initiative action in their lives as it becomes clear that no one is really going to give them what they want. In other words, they are taking inspired to take the actions for themselves that no one else will take for them. The beauty of this is as victims take a stand believing they are alone, they are finding out they are not alone. Communities are being formed as individuals take their stands.
- Aries Uranus Retrograde trine Sagittarius Saturn – The afore-mentioned semi-sextile is not simply a matter of people standing up for themselves. These individual actions are exposing and affirming factual truths. As result, communities are forming because individuals are recognizing that as they share and/or act upon their experiences, they are finding other individuals who have shared their experiences. In other words, people are finding where they belong by taking action on their own. Facts lead to fellowship, and to a deeper understanding of a much darker issue now being exposed to the Light of Truth.
There is also quite a bit of transit activity happening among other planets and bodies, especially with Ceres in Leo, which represents personal values currently being focused upon the unique and creative self-expression of individuals.
- Leo Ceres sextile Libra Mars – A heightened value of one’s self-expression is encouraging and supporting actions taken with others to move things forward.
- Leo Ceres square Scorpio Venus – That same heightened value of self-expression challenges people in regard to their relationship & partnership matters as it becomes clear which connections support and encourage individual self-expression and which one’s do not.
- Leo Ceres trine Sagittarius Mercury – And the heightened value of self-expression encourages and empowers individuals to speak their truths openly with the intention of awakening greater self-awareness in other individuals.
- Leo Ceres quincunx Capricorn Pluto – This renewed value of creative self-expression does not align with the societal standards and institutions of power and influence. The more people find their inner light and inner voices and share their truths with the world, the more the societal institutions in place are exposed as being outdated and/or upholding a way of being which no longer has a place in the changing world. This is the transit that tips the scales to enable a major shift – one through which individual self-expression is valued more than that of our societal institutions, forcing the institutions (and especially those in the positions of power within society) to face themselves and the dark sides of their power. The Light of Truth does not allow them to keep their operations hidden any longer.
And through these Ceres transits, two more important transits are revealed:
- Though exact on 11th November, the conjunction of Capricorn Juno and Pluto is still within 3° orb, and it reveals a commitment to the transformation of societal traditions and institutions. This is a major shift in the power structure, and even if the shift(s) did not reveal itself that day, the events of that day initiated what will prove to be major shifts in power and influence over the coming days, weeks, months, and years to come.
- And Sagittarius Mercury semi-sextile Capricorn Pluto affirms that the factual truths now being vocalized/expressed are forcing the transformation of how our societal institutions operate and wield their power and influence upon the masses.
One more transit which really sums up the emotional toll all of this is having on us as a collective whole is Scorpio Venus trine Pisces Neptune Retrograde. It begs the question – when is enough finally enough?
- When have we been too idealistic about the relationships/connections we have with others, ignoring their faults to protect our own emotions?
- When do we admit that having our fantasies fulfilled may not be such a good thing after all?
- When do we admit that pursuing our dreams while denying factual truths actually turn our dreams into nightmares?
With all of that being said, this 2017 Scorpio New Moon is living up to the billing of Scorpio’s energy – a deep, profound, transformative experience of our emotions and factual truths coming to Light. This is a comeuppance for all who have been in positions of power and influence within our societal institutions and chose to abuse their power (whether due to full consciousness and a sense of entitlement &/or due to mental illness), and this is a moment of empowerment for those who have been in the roles of victim and/or martyr, having made the choice(s) to surrender their personal power to corrupt individuals in a corrupt societal system. What makes this transformation most challenging is that it will require us to look at the roles we each and all played in creating and enabling this society of abusive power by suppressing or denying our individual self-expressions – our uniqueness, our personal truths.
It’s time we recognize that by facing and admitting what we fear to be our individual darkness, by allowing ourselves to fully express our unique expressions of Light, and by allowing truth to emerge in the moment it is revealed, we claim and expand our individual expressions of power…
…and as individuals expressing our power, we can recognize those who share our power and come together with them as a collective whole bringing more brilliance, truth, and beauty into the world than we could ever imagine, transforming the definitions of power and influence in society for ourselves and for generations to come.
