Saturn in Sagittarius made a turn into retrograde motion on 14th March 2015 at 8:02a PDT.

Saturn gets a bad rap for being a wet blanket, taking all the fun out of Sagittarius’ freedom-loving adventures. I would strongly disagree by saying that my view of Saturn in Sagittarius is one in which we are being asked to focus our explorative and expansive intentions.  Under Saturn’s stern and watchful eye, Sagittarius isn’t always about growing and expanding just because we can – it’s about growing and expanding in ways that help us become who we want to be living lives we want to live. By having clear intentions for the expression of our personal freedom, we are able to explore and expand in ways that actually cultivate wisdom rather than wasting our time and energy.

In retrograde, Saturn in Sagittarius is making sure that you aren’t trying to expand in a direction that is not in alignment with your authentic self.  It may seem like it’s trying to holding you back or down with obstacles, oppression, but what it’s really doing is keeping you on course to accomplish your dreams and goals. Its objective is to keep you focused and disciplined and its job is to hold you accountable and responsible for your choices and actions along the way.

Any heavy-handed authority presence will seem to occur from the outside in (as it often does during retrograde motion), and with Saturn in Sag’s first steps in retrograde happening under Pisces Sun, Mercury, Chiron, and Neptune, you may be easily tempted to play victim to your circumstances and to what you may perceive as others’ trying to curtail your freedoms.

Yet when you shift your perspective of Saturn Retrograde in Sagittarius from an iron fist to a guiding hand, you may recognize that these “external interferences” might be trying to steer you in a different direction.  In fact, as you take steps in said different direction, you may notice that you don’t experience the same obstacles and restrictions. You may even experience a renewed (or new) sense of focus and accomplishment as you embark toward your new and improved goals and destinations which are better aligned with the authentic expression of who you are.

Here are some of Saturn in Sagittarius’ most important transits in the next 4 weeks:

  • Saturn Retrograde square Mercury in Pisces at 2:41a PDT on 16th March (4.9°) – Your idealistic thoughts and words may challenge you ability to see your best opportunities and directions for growth and expansion.
  • Saturn Retrograde quincunx Venus in Taurus at 4:39a PDT on 21st March (4.8°) – You may find that you’re being called to grow and expand in different ways or directions than your partner(s).
  • Saturn Retrograde trine Aries Sun at 12:24p PDT on 25th March (part of a Fire Grand Trine –4.7°) – The Sun’s light reveals opportunities for you to take actions and move in a direction that aligns with your True self.
  • Saturn Retrograde trine Mercury in Aries at 4:55a PDT on 2nd April (part of a Fire Grand Trine – 4.6°) – Your words and thoughts reflect your intent to focus on growth and expansion that strengthens your authentic self.
  • Saturn Retrograde trine Juno in Leo at 2:32P PDT on 2nd April (part of a Fire Grand Trine – 4.6°) – You are being strongly guided to move in directions that honor and expand your commitment to your self-expression.
  • Saturn Retrograde quincunx Mars in Taurus at 11:17a PDT on 6th April (4.4°) – Your actions to maintain your comfort zone may find you being forced into a different path for growth and expansion…for your own good.

Saturn in Sagittarius will remain in retrograde motion through 2nd August 2015.
