What may be the big event of the week – at least so far – is Netanyahu’s address to U.S. Congress happening this morning. Let’s take a look at what is happening as this address begins.
To set the stage, Juno Retrograde in Leo in the 3rd House is the lead planet, reflecting a commitment to relaying information in response to recent events. Juno’s trine with Saturn in Sagittarius in the 6th House makes it very clear that Netanyahu intends to define clear boundaries of operation in order to ensure Israel’s autonomy & protection.
However, the most noticeable thing astrologically speaking is an Angular Grand Sextile configuration involving Jupiter Retrograde in Leo in the local 3rd House sextile the Gemini 6 Ascendant sextile Venus conjunct Uranus intercepted in Aries in the 11th House sextile Mercury in Aquarius in the 9th House. This reveals to me that this address will indeed educate the world with the wisdom of his and his nation’s experience (Mercury in Aquarius in 9th), yet Netanyahu and the involved parties will also receive a LOT of feedback about his and Israel’s place and role in the world as result.
Gemini 6 energy on the ascendant brings a “listen & learn” energy, and though he is speaking with the intention that the world will be listening, he will need to listen after he makes this address as there is likely to be an abundance of feedback for him to use to assess both his effectiveness as a leader and the position his nation is in in the world. Yet the Pisces 11 Sun and Chiron in Pisces, both in the 10th house, are also both square the Gemini 6 AC as this address begins, which indicates that there is misalignment in Israel’s efforts to connect with the emotional-spiritual sensitivities of others while also trying to position itself with reason and intellect. They may leave others more confused than clear which is not a good thing for Netanyahu when his intention with this address is to decisively clarify his stance and his allies.
The Venus and Uranus conjunction in Aries adds an element of assertiveness if not aggression to the partnerships and associations Netanyahu is addressing and involved in – an energy that will not go unnoticed despite the Aries interception and the outwardly diligent efforts to make this seem like a peacefully-intended address arranged by willing and loyal allies. This is especially the case with this conjunction in the 11th House of communities, social and professional circles, and mass communications and the conjunction’s sextile with Mercury in Aquarius in the 9th. What will also go unnoticed are the peoples he stirs up with his address, and there are likely to be both expected and unexpected reactions to his words.
The play for power and influence being made in this address is clear. With Pluto in Capricorn in the 8th House of this chart, this is a push for control over the situation meant to 1) ensure any defensive and protective ties and 2) to sway public opinion. Yet with Pluto squaring Venus conjunct Uranus in Aries, it draws the real intentions out of the shadows, ensuring that this address will create tension within Israel itself, with its enemies, and with its allies, no matter what is spoken otherwise.
Mars conjunct the South Node intercepted in Aries in the 11th House makes it clear that no matter how much Israel and the U.S. trying to mask their true feelings and intentions, things will heat things up significantly not only in the talks with Iran but between Israel and the U.S. The world community will not be oblivious to the fact that this address is definitely meant to be the latest step in an ongoing “fight” and this fact ramps tensions up considerably. In fact, Iran, the other main player in this event, will be greatly upset by this address, amplified by the fact that its Natal Aries Sun just happens to be conjuncted by the Mars conjunct South Node in Aries transit as this address begins. Black Moon Lilith in Virgo in the 4th house is quincunx all three of these bodies, reflecting the intensifying deeper desire to make things work in a purposeful and practical manner once and for all. It’s clear this address will intensify matters in regard to deal-making, and probably not in a good way.
The 7th House is empty in this chart, and though the North Node is in Libra in the 5th House indicating a push to use diplomatic means to resolve matters, Libra is intercepted in the 5th house between neighboring signs Virgo and Scorpio. This address will likely result in Israel’s allies being willing to assist Israel in a practical and/or purposeful way that also serves their own practical interests, but the Scorpio influence will likely reinforce that intention by keeping Israel’s allies out of anything that does not serve their practical interests. Netanyahu will be very effective in drawing his lines in the sand through this address, but in doing so he may end up weakening his nation’s alliances by drawing them a bit too thin. This may be a push for him to figure out who really stands with Israel, but in doing so he may find that his nation stands more alone than he thought.
The U.S. government will be in quite a quandary after this, as what they’ve been saying in order to maintain their alliance with Israel and what happens as result of this address is likely to make it more difficult for the U.S. to continue on in its role (the U.S. Cancer Sun squared by transiting Venus conjunct Uranus in Aries AND opposed by Pluto in Capricorn). This is not to say that the U.S. will abandon Israel, but it is to say that it will be harder for the U.S. (and the West) to stand by them. What also becomes clear is that this address amplifies the rifts within U.S. government, but only because the House leadership may be more alienated by the rest of Congress and the Executive Branch as result of this address. This event may actually bring unlikely bedfellows together against the GOP agenda in regard to Netanyahu’s visit and address.
