I’ve recently started using Black Moon Lilith in my charts, and the big question many people have when they first hear about Black Moon Lilith is…what is it?

Black Moon Lilith is not a physical body, but rather the Moon’s apogee or its orbit point furthest away from Earth.  Many of the astrologers who use Black Moon Lilith are now looking it at as the representation of true feminine power – both in emotional integrity and sexual expression – and they explain that Lilith’s rather passionate and sometimes violent behavior is in response to the patriarchal institutions which have done their best to suppress True feminine power.

In my investigation of Black Moon Lilith, I have found it to represent our soul’s deepest and most heartfelt desires – a Universe-driven call to the soul’s fulfillment and joy as opposed to the human ego-driven calling for worldly success.  In both men and women, it represents the deepest depths of our emotional-spiritual truth.  It reveals our emotional responses to our ability to live into our soul’s greatest potential, whatever that may be for each of us.  Sometimes, these emotional responses can be intense if not violent and destructive.  Other times, they may be passionate and courageous.

Black Moon Lilith can also represent all the ways we are or have been emotionally repressed by others and/or where we have emotionally suppressed ourselves.  Many of us have become victims to social, emotional, or spiritual conditioning that clouds our ability to see ourselves as we truly are with resignation or fear…. that is, until we find ourselves ready to stand up and claim the Truth and integrity of our self-expression that resides within our souls.  What starts out as need for acceptance and belonging may become rebellion and resistance to persecution until we can make peace with and accept our unique self-expression and be our true selves regardless of what anyone else thinks or feels.  Black Moon Lilith shows us how we may take a stand for our emotional integrity and full self-expression and step into our emotional and sexual power.

When Venus in Scorpio squares Black Moon Lilith in Leo – in exact aspect at 8:58a PST on Saturday, 15th November 2014 (28°) – this could mean that we’re in for some fireworks displays, personally and collectively.

In the sign of Leo, Black Moon Lilith is often an indicator that there is highly-creative individual expression and/or talent for performance being withheld or oppressed.  There’s a good chance that it has been suppressed or oppressed in the past and is now struggling to come forth to make its presence known.  There may be a great deal of fear around allowing this talent or ability to emerge and be seen or known by others, likely due to fear of rejection or ridicule.  There may also be a great deal of anger and resentment due to long-held beliefs or feelings that this radiant self-expression must be kept hidden.

This all fine and dandy, but the first challenge here is that when Leo isn’t being acknowledged, it becomes rather desperate for attention of any kind.  In the case of Black Moon Lilith in Leo, this could result in one’s deepest emotional needs being sought after through excessively dramatic or violent behavior.  This could bring forth an “attention for attention’s sake” display for the ages, one in which no behavior is too much when it comes to seeking out attention or praise.

Venus – which brings balance, fairness, and equality into one-on-one relationships of all kinds – has a complicated job in front of it when it comes to this square transit, especially as it is winding down its run through ScorpioVenus in Scorpio does not trust others easily, and until it gets to know your deepest and darkest secrets, it’s not likely to trust you or anything you say or do.  Venus is Scorpio can have rather obsessive tendencies, so when it feels like something is being hidden or isn’t really being honest or true, it will get to the bottom of it by searching for the root of the issue(s).

Venus in Scorpio will “go there”, poking and prodding into those depths of Black Moon Lilith in Leo’s self-expression challenges.  It won’t hesitate to seek out what drives Lilith’s melodramatic behavior, and it really won’t care if it’s revealing any deep dark secrets, or if it’s healing or exacerbating any emotional wounds.  Venus in Scorpio only wants to know what’s at the root of it all so it can definitively choose whether to trust and stay with a partner, or distrust them and walk away.

This Venus-Black Moon Lilith square may make its presence known most obviously in relationships and partnerships of all kinds.  This may show up one of three different ways in your life:

  • On one hand, these relationships may be keeping you from shining your Light. Any anger or resentment may be due to the fact that you feel like others are oppressing or suppressing your Light while they are out shining and expanding their Light.  You may notice how you are choosing to hold yourself down and back in your life in efforts to please or belong with others.  You may also begin to recognize how some of your partners or companions may be keeping you from emerging out of your fear-based darkness and making your Light known…or how you have been letting them hold you back or down from your self-expression.
  • On the other hand, these relationships may be helping you recognize where you are trying too hard to stand out or shine. You may be wanting or needing to be the center of attention, yet your need may be fear or wound-based.  As result, others around you may be feeling exhausted by you because they feel like they can never meet your needs or demands for attention.  You may notice that your partners or companions are finding you to be too high-maintenance or too dramatic for their tastes, making circumstances or situations that most people would find to be minor challenges major ones simply because you want to make yourself the center of attention out of a refusal, denial, or avoidance of  the lessons being taught to you so you can become responsible for your own soul’s development.

The thing with Black Moon Lilith is that when someone is truly on a path of self-awareness and conscious soul development, they often reach a point where it no longer serves them to continue to live in fear or suppression.  In this case of Lilith in Leo, some of you will find yourselves ready to bust out and make your creative and performance talents known.  In doing so, you may find that some of the relationships and partnerships in your life may need to be re-evaluated for their alignment or encouragement of your growth.

The key to remember is that Leo can be a very prideful energy, and Scorpio can be a very polarizing energy.  Pride and polarity don’t mix well, and this interaction may result in extreme measures being taken that end up bringing some relationship conflicts to a decisive head.  In these times of what is hopefully careful consideration,  it may also help you to remember that others may be interacting with you from their own fear-based emotional challenges in their efforts to keep you in your old patterns or behaviors so that the brilliance of your Light (or their Light) doesn’t become known.  In some cases, they may be afraid of losing you.  In other cases, they may fear that you will (or already do) outshine them.  Either way, you may want to consider where your partners are coming from with their behavior and responses before you cut  them off or out of your life.

This Venus-Black Moon Lilith square has the potential to create some serious relationship tension from the 12th through the 17th of November 2o14.  However, with your awareness of what’s at stake, you may be able to navigate this energy to your advantage…and eventually, to the fulfillment of your heart and soul’s desire.
