The 2014 Pisces Full Moon, at its fullest at 6:38p PDT on Monday, 8th September 2014 (16°), is a very special one.  Let’s start with some basics so I can explain how this Pisces Full Moon is more extraordinary than usual.

The Pisces Full Moon is created by the Moon’s opposition to the Virgo Sun.  This means that the functionality of our lives being reflected back upon us by our emotion and/or spirituality-based ideals.  You may find that around this time each year, when the Pisces Full Moon occurs, you are extra-sensitive to how well your life is or isn’t working for you.  You may notice that the day-to-day experience of your life may or may not match up with your dreams, visions, or ideals for it.  Whether your ideals are simple daydreams or fantastic delusions is not as relevant as the fact that the Virgo Sun reveals the Truth about or behind these ideals to you  in some way.  The Virgo Sun-Pisces Moon opposition helps you recognize and acknowledge the gap between where you are and where you may want to be.

This is also a reminder that the Virgo-Pisces axis in the Zodiac wheel is “the axis of service”.  In watching the energy of this axis play out in client charts and in my own chart over the years, I’ve discovered some very interesting interpretations of and beliefs about service.  Many of these come to Light during the Pisces Full Moon, sometimes revealing some deep emotional-spiritual wounds that are desperate for healing.

Yet it is frequently lost on us that there are many ways to serve, and one of the most overlooked ways to serve is simply to be all of who you are, and to do what you do best in your own unique way.  There is SO much you can contribute to others simply by being and giving of your True self – being who you truly are in and for the world without censorship or suppression.  Yet some of you may believe that you don’t have enough, that you are are too wounded or too broken to make a positive or healthy contribution to the lives of others, or that you are so wounded or broken that you must sacrifice yourself for others.

Some of you may diligently perform selfless acts and deeds in the name of service, believing that “selfless” means to consciously exclude yourself from receiving the same service from others who wish to give it to you or even from yourself!  You may forget that in your efforts to serve the Oneness, you are also part of that Oneness!  You may forget that making sure your own needs are met is just as important as making sure the needs of others are met.  After all, if you are not healthy or well, if your own day-to-day life isn’t functioning effectively, how can you possibly expect to be in your best and healthiest position to serve others?

What makes this 2014 Pisces Full Moon extraordinary is that Chiron – the ruler of Virgo – is conjunct the Moon in Pisces at 5:05p PDT (15°) – approximately 90 minutes before the Moon makes its exact opposition to the Virgo Sun.  This not only brings grounding and centering focus to the very emotionally and energetically sensitive Pisces Moon – it also brings an extraordinary opportunity for healing long-standing emotional-spiritual wounds.  Chiron is moving in retrograde motion, so this also means that our experience of others and/or the circumstances around you may awaken you to what gets to be healed not only in the world, but within yourself.

This 2014 Pisces Full Moon-Chiron Retrograde conjunction is a rare opportunity to heal your individual self on the emotional-spiritual level.  In doing so, you bring healing energy to the Oneness you are part of in the process.  By taking practical, real world steps to heal yourself and restore function and purpose to your own daily life, you are also contributing to the healing of humanity, the world, the Earth, and All-That-Is.

For some of you, the challenge in this Pisces Full Moon-Chiron Retrograde healing process is that though you are part of the Oneness and the Oneness can be healed through your efforts to heal yourself, you may find it is difficult for you to serve and heal yourself with the same unconditional Love and compassion that you may offer to others.

  • You may give up all of your time and energy to support and encourage others materially, physically, emotionally, spiritually…to the point where you have little or no time or energy left for yourself. This happens because you may believe that you have little to no value to the rest of the world unless you can enslave yourself to it, giving up your own dreams and desires for the dreams and desires of others.
  • You may place the needs and desires of others before your own because you believe others to be more worthy and deserving of assistance, support, compassion, or kindness than you are. You may shun receiving acts of service from others because you reject any notion that you may be worthy or deserving of such kindness or compassion yourself.
  • You may sacrifice your own happiness and well-being for that of others in the hopes that someone else will do the same for you. You may give of yourself and extend kindness and acts of “selfless” service, yet do so with the sole intention of having others reciprocate your actions to ‘reimburse’ you for the good you’ve done in the world.  You want and need others to give you the value and worth that you are unable to give yourself.

If you have one or more of the tendencies noted above, Chiron Retrograde’s presence makes this 2014 Pisces Full Moon a true “physician, heal thyself” opportunity for you.  If you are someone who is constantly making efforts to serve and heal others, this may finally put you in a position to be forced to face, serve, and heal your emotional-spiritual-psychic wounds so you can recognize that YOU are as worthy and deserving of receiving unconditional Love and compassion as anyone, everyone, anything, and everything else.

Keep in mind – Chiron Retrograde in Pisces is still within 3° orb to continue its trine aspect with Juno in Cancer.  This produces a sextile aspect between Juno and the Pisces Full Moon, which indicates that your emotion-based commitments of service to others may assist by providing you with a contrast or a mirror of awareness to the functionality of your everyday life…if you allow them to.  If you are willing to see the Truth behind the commitments you have chosen to make and to accept what you learn rather than to try to deny, escape, or hide from it, you may notice how the commitments you’ve made and are emotionally and/or spiritually invested in may be helping or hurting the practical function of your everyday life.

The Moon-Chiron Retrograde conjunction in Pisces is brief – they are only within orb of each other for about 9 hours.  However, the fact that it is natalized within the window of the 2014 Pisces Full Moon makes for an extraordinary healing power like no other.  It may be painful at first to have your wounds awakened and exposed again, yet they must be opened in order for you to make the most of this opportunity for True healing to occur – for yourself and the world.
