Just as Saturn in Scorpio turns to direct motion, Uranus in Aries begins its latest retrograde at 7:53p PDT on Monday 21st July 2014.

Uranus has been more than vocal about and very active in exercising its rebellious intentions since it began its latest pass through Aries in March 2011.  However, rebellions aren’t getting the best reviews lately, and these unruly individuals and factions may want to take the feedback they are getting and take a second look at their agendas.

Who and/or what are they fighting against?  What exactly are they fighting for?  They may find that their answers to those questions may have become complicated or forgotten entirely over the last few months and days.

With the objective of rebellion lost or forgotten, it may be a good time to ask: What is all of the fighting really for?

In order for a rebellion to be successful, there needs to be a clear and comprehensive intention.  Even if the various parties involved have varied agendas, they need to have one collaborative vision in common.  Without something that ties the varied pieces together, it’s simply a mess.

The good side to Uranus in Aries is the side on which individuals are able to come together to take collective action toward a common vision.  Each individual makes a unique contribution to that greater whole, to that unified front.  Together, they make one thing happen that is bigger than any of them could achieve alone.

When Uranus in Aries goes into retrograde motion, this is an opportunity for the individuals involved to assess their unique individual contributions to that collaborative effort.  This is a chance to get a good look at that bigger picture and to figure out where each person involved – themselves included – can best contribute to something bigger than they could ever do alone.

That said, Uranus Retrograde in Aries brings forth the individual’s inward desire underneath the motive of the greater whole.  Therefore, this is an opportunity for you to figure out where and how you can best individually contribute what you uniquely have to offer to the bigger effort.  Of course, to know what you have to offer, you need to know yourself.

This is where things can become a bit messy.

When rebellions and revolutions get going, sometimes there can be confusion regarding the purpose and point of the disruption.  This is where the not-so-good side of Uranus in Aries can make its presence known – the side on which there are too many chefs and not enough line cooks.  When rebellions are ineffective, there’s probably too many individuals trying to call shots to get things started and not enough individuals willing to carry them out to completion.  They want to be heroes, and being part of the army isn’t enough.

The thing is, just because there’s too many people trying to be leaders doesn’t mean there aren’t any followers.  Wherever there are leaders, there are always followers willing to follow.   This is the case even where there may be too many leaders to choose from.  These “willow in the wind” followers are what may make this Uranus Retrograde in Aries so challenging and frankly, confronting for many people.

There’s a good number of people who have been blindly following the loudest voice, rarely if ever pausing to wonder if they’ve really ever aligned with the truth that leader speaks, or if that leader is even speaking truth in the first place.  As result, during this Uranus Retrograde in Aries, people may begin awakening to the fact that they haven’t been thinking or speaking for themselves.  As they really begin to notice the group think and group speak around them, they may finally start to question if they really do align with the reasons certain actions are being taken, or if they are just going along with what they are being told.

Making this particular Uranus Retrograde in Aries more personal, you may find that between now and late December 2014, you are taking time to check in with yourself regarding your own rebellious attitudes and actions.

  • Are you acting out and/or making efforts to claim your independence because you want to, or are you acting out because someone or something else is telling you that you should be?
  • Are you taking actions in alignment with your own inner truth, or are you taking actions in order to belong to your community or something bigger than yourself?

This 2014 Uranus Retrograde in Aries may have you thinking a bit more than you ever have before about your associations and affiliations and whether or not they really speak for who you truly are and who you truly want to be.  This will be especially advantageous for you in the face of Mars in Scorpio coming up on 26th/27th July, which may find you acting in extremes to delve into your ( and others) emotional-spiritual depths, discovering and defining your personal boundaries.

Take your time over these next five months of this round of Uranus Retrograde in Aries to make sure that you’re fighting for something you really believe in, and not just fighting for the sake of fighting.
